Yes, yes, it might be warm outside and in any other context I should absolutely not be mentioning the C word! However, if you are planning a cozy Christmas wedding I’ve no doubt you will be making those plans right now.
Nina and Dan were married the day before Christmas Eve in a beautifully festive church service in Hertfordshire. It was a typically cold December afternoon. Light mist hung in the cold air and a warm orange glow of lamps and fairy lights in Christmas trees lit the evening in the most romantic way.
Dusk was falling as Nina entered the church on her fathers arm and they made their way down the candle light lit aisle. A picture perfect moment, but one that requires experience, technical skill and the right equipment to capture.
Traditionally, spring and summer have been considered high season for weddings in the UK, our darker and colder months typically being far quieter. However, that is really not the case these days. Wintery weddings are almost as popular as their sunnier counterparts, with Christmas weddings being the highlight of this colder season. And, this is with good reason. Couples who embrace a wedding at this time of the year find the season provides a gorgeously romantic backdrop to their nuptials and enjoy festive and cozy celebrations that rival even the very best summer time dos!
When choosing a Christmas wedding photographer you should make sure that they have the skills and equipment to capture every moment in a far far darker setting. Further to this, be sure to look for someone who will make the most of these unique conditions creatively. Your wedding deserves a photographer who can deliver those gorgeously romantic Christmas wedding images that you have been dreaming of!
Before you book your Christmas wedding photographer, ask to see galleries of winter weddings that they have shot. Ask them about what they do in the case of bad weather and how they handle low light. Don’t assume that they will be able to handle these tricky situations.

Deep greens, gold, velvety reds, and warm candle light all look gorgeous in wedding pictures. Fire pits and sparklers, mistletoe and mulled wine all enhance those cozy Christmas vibes and lead to fabulous photographs!
When Nina and Dan left the Church as husband and wife and went out into the cold December night they were surrounded by the warmth of their family and dearest friends. But that wasn’t the only reason they kept warm. When you are planning a Christmas wedding being prepared for colder conditions is a must. No one wants to be cold on their wedding day but the good news is that chillier weather open up a whole world of beautiful boleros, shrugs and shawls. For the men, those sharp three piece tweed suits that many a summer groom has sweated profusely into are perfect for a colder Christmas wedding.
A sparkler send off is the perfect way to end the night in style at your Christmas wedding! In the height of summer it won’t be fully dark until 10 o’clock but at this time of the year the darkness is your friend (well at least in terms of making epic sparkler photos!). So make the most of it, the result will be epic photographs in spades.
