As an experienced Hertfordshire wedding photographer, I get to work at the very best wedding venues in the county. And this is certainly the case when I return to capture wedding photography at Rothamsted Manor. Kez and Jake chose the perfect venue for their spring wedding near St Albans.
Grade I Listed Rothamsted Manor is a stunning manor house set in acres of Hertfordshire woodland and gardens. Known locally as something of a hidden gem, it’s a real favourite with Hertfordshire wedding photographers as it offers endless beautiful backdrops both inside its stately rooms and outside in the gardens.
Ceremony only wedding photography in Hertfordshire
Kez and Jake used to walk their dog through the grounds and had always admired the estate, so were delighted when they learned they could get married there. They booked me for just two hours with my ceremony only package. Where I capture the ceremony, some group images of the wedding party, some candid images of guests and a couple’s photoshoot. In that time, I captured 250 images for Kez and Jake that told the story of their wedding day right up to the drink’s reception.
My ceremony only package is a popular choice for budget conscious couples or for those with more intimate celebrations planned. It means they get high quality wedding photography of the most important part of their day at a competitive price.

On the day, I woke to a sunny spring morning and headed straight to Rothamsted Manor. I quickly whipped inside to capture some images of Rothamsted’s Great Drawing Room that was all dressed and ready for the wedding breakfast later in the day. It looked amazing!
Kez and Jake’s guests began to arrive and enjoyed arrival drinks in the garden at the front of the house. There was a palpable fizz of anticipation and I snapped away to record some nice candid moments.
The wedding ceremony was held in Rothamsted’s characterful library. Its bookshelves are concealed behind wood panelling, it has a highly decorative fireplace that originates from 1622 and an ornate plasterwork ceiling. Jake, waiting for the ceremony to begin, was super cool. If he was nervous at all you would never have guessed it!
Kez looked effortlessly elegant in a gorgeous off-white dress with an embroidered flower pattern across the front. And was walked down the aisle by her sister who was also her maid of honour on the day.
There followed a really special ceremony that was an absolute joy to capture as both Kez and Jake beamed all the way through it. (Us St Albans wedding photographers do love smiley couples!)
After the ceremony, there was a fun confetti moment outside that I captured in the sunshine. And as the weather was so good, I got some great group images of the wedding party on the lawn as well as some more candid images of guests congratulating Kez and Jake.
Next, everybody enjoyed a drinks reception and with Kez and Jake’s guest happily catered for, I was able to whisk them away for a few minutes for a photoshoot around the grounds of Rothamsted Estate. The images I got of them in the beautiful gardens bathed in the warm spring sunshine were amongst my favourites of the day.
I delivered them back to their family and friends who were by now enjoying drinks in the library, and took a few last candid images of the guests milling about and enjoying the ambience. Then it was time for me to leave them to enjoy the rest of their day.
I had a great time capturing Kez and Jake’s wedding at Rothamsted Manor. A lovely chilled out wedding for a lovely chilled out couple at a simply stunning St Albans wedding venue.

I’ll leave the last words to Kez and Jake. Here’s what they had to say about working with me.
“We had Stephen for a 2-hour wedding shoot and we had a brilliant experience. Stephen was very easy to deal with and made a big effort to ensure he knew exactly what we would like from our shoot which included a meeting to discuss all the details. On the day, Stephen was very friendly and the final photos are beyond what we could have hoped for. We couldn’t recommend him enough”
