Mill Green Golf Club Wedding Photographer - Harley and Adam's Day

Mill Green Golf Club has become another hotspot for Pike Photography this year. I have enjoyed photographing some really fab weddings here! This Hertfordshire wedding venue is a lovely place get hitched. Mill Green Golf Club is situated in countryside between the towns of Hatfield and Welwyn Garden City, just a stone’s throw from London.

When I first met with Harley and Adam I knew right away that we were going to have an awesome day. Everything that they had planned sounded really lovely and they were keen to get some really fun pictures without having the photography be intrusive to their day. This is exactly how I like to work.

Harley looked absolutely stunning wearing a floor length A-line shaped dress. It was backless with spaghetti straps and she added a crystal embellished bridal belt for some extra sparkle.

My day started at a quaint Hertfordshire farm house which was where Harley and her bridesmaid’s had stayed the night before. It was such a pretty and peaceful location. With the sun shining and the birds singing, the girls opted to have their hair and makeup done outdoors in the garden.

It was so lovely to see Gemma of GeGe Weddings on hair and makeup again. Our paths cross all the time at wedding days and it is always great to work together. Gemma is amazing at what she does. Wedding mornings with her are always super chilled and lots of fun and this one was no exception. Gemma created a gorgeous bridal look for Harly with soft glam makeup and soft curls in her hair.

Once the girls were ready we made the most of the beautiful location and the beautiful sunshine by taking some fun bridesmaid photos around the garden. Then, I grabbed some pictures as Harley’s car arrived (a fabulous vintage Jaguar) before making my way over to Mill Green Golf Club.

Creative Wedding Photography at a Hertfordshire Golf Club Wedding Venue

As I arrived at Mill Green Golf club, groom Adam was waiting with his best man inside the venue’s function room, The Club at Mill Green. A section of the large room had been partitioned off and setup for the wedding ceremony. Chairs with delicate sheer sashes were laid out in rows and church candles in hurricane vases lined the aisle. A wall of twinkling fairy lights lit the top of the room and beautiful white floral arrangements completed the picture.

I snapped some nice candid moments whilst Adam greeted the guests who were beginning to arrive. Before we knew it, registrars from The Hertfordshire Registration Service had made their final preparations ahead of the ceremony. Then beautiful bride Harley drew up in that fabulous vintage Jag. Once I had some nice photos of her arrival I made my way back inside to give Adam the thumbs up and the ceremony began!

Adam, with his very proud mum on his arm, made a formal entrance first. It was a really lovely moment and his mum, who had made the journey from Hungary to attend the wedding, beamed with pride throughout. The bridesmaids then followed before Harley made her way down the aisle in a touching moment with her uncle by her side.

Although the ceremony was overseen by Hertfordshire registrars, it was made extra special as they allowed a close family member (a register from another county) to officiate. This made everything all the more personal for Harley and Adam. It was a really beautiful wedding ceremony to photograph.

Storytelling wedding photography in Hertfordshire

With vows made and rings exchanged Harley and Adam made their way out to the terrace as husband and wife! Prosecco was poured and yummy canapés served amidst hugs and kissed of congratulations and, of course, lots of lovely candid photos.  After a few minutes the couple and I snuck off to quickly get some photos of them with the wedding car before it had to leave.

Golden hour wedding photography

Giles of SO Discos undertook MC’ing duties and called the guests inside to be seated. Effortlessly working the crowd Giles had everyone cheering and waving their napkins as Harley and Adam made their way into the room!

After a delicious 3 course meal served up by the team at Mill Green Golf Club, it was time for the speeches. Harley’s sister spoke first, followed by the best man and then Harley’s uncle. Harley herself rounded out the proceedings with a speech of her own. Touching and emotional, there was barely a dry eye in the house! It is always a treat to photograph moments like these at weddings.

Guests made their way back outside so that the function room could be turned around for the evening reception. Harley and Adam took the opportunity to steal away with me for a few minutes to take some photos. Early evening sunshine was streaming across the course and the pretty lake at its centre. It was the perfect time and location for some romantic wedding photos!

Later, the newlyweds kicked off the party by cutting their cake and then taking to the dance floor together. Their crowd whooped and cheered the couple’s first dance and then flooded the floor as the next song kicked in. It was an awesome party. Adam’s relatives requested lots of Hungarian music that I had never heard before, it really got the dancefloor jumping! SO Disco provided a photo booth too which really added to the fun and the party vibes!

Thank you so much Harley and Adam for choosing me to photograph your awesome wedding day at Mill Green Golf Club, it really was a pleasure!
