My Style & How It All Works

Combining natural, candid, documentary style photography with striking and dramatic portraits sing studio flash on location, my style is predominantly contemporary. Rain or shine, outdoors or indoors, winter or summer, tipi or registry office weddings, we can make beautiful photos together. Expertly edited to ensure that every photograph is gorgeously colourful and has a modern yet timeless appeal.

Because it’s a wedding day, not a photo-shoot

As an experienced solo shooter, I am adept at blending in with your wedding party to discretely capture the whole story of your day in the most unobtrusive way possible.

Every wedding is unique and as such the photography has to work for you and should be tailored to your day. To this end, ahead of every wedding I consult with each couple to discuss their specific requirements for the day and to ensure that the photography fits in just how you want it to. You can also add a pre-wedding photo-shoot if you’d like to meet for a practice and to make some extra pictures together.

Stephen takes beautiful photos and is a lovely person. I would highly recommend him for your wedding or any other event you may wish to have wonderful memories of.

rest easy

You make the moments, and I will be there to discreetly capture them. With over 10 years of experience in the [camera] bag your once-in-a-lifetime moments are safe with me. Couples are always wowed by what I have recorded on their wedding day! To see for yourself, contact me and ask to view a full wedding day galley or have a look at my 5 star Google reviews.

It’s common for the bride and groom to leave their wedding guests shortly after the ceremony for a photo-shoot. Not only does this mean that you miss out on a big chunk of your wedding day, it also typically takes place right in the middle of the day when the light is at it’s least flattering. I don’t do this.

lets do things differently

On your wedding day I’m with you from morning to night, and I bring along some rather awesome portable studio lighting. This means that we can make the most effective and efficient use of time and light on your precious day. Your wedding day portraits can be taken in short 5-10 minute mini-sessions throughout the day and into the night, as many or as few as you choose. This minimises the amount of time you are away from you wedding party and ensures you get a fantastic, varied and unique set of images (and couples love sneaking away for a quiet moment together whilst we make a picture or two!)

Questions you should ask before booking a wedding photographer:

  1. When should we book you? Some couples book me 2 years in advance some do it just a few months before they say “I do”. Urging you to do it right now is not my style. If you think that I’d be a good fit to document your wedding day get in touch. Run your date by me, see some of my full wedding galleries and lets have an informal chat.

  2. Do you have insurance? YES! I am fully insured to photograph weddings worldwide.

  3. Can I see a full wedding photo set? YES! Please get in touch and I will be happy to oblige.

  4. How much will it cost and exactly what do I get for my money? Pricing is simple and is based on how long you need me for. All my packages include access to your photos via an online gallery from which you can download, print and share. Unlike other photographers there are no extra charges to access your photos. Find out more here.

  5. How much experience do you have as a wedding photographer? I have been taking photos as long as I can remember and shooting weddings since 2013. A wedding day is a uniquely high pressure and hectic event. It is critical to know where to be and when, and to always be ready so that those once in a lifetime moments are not missed. This comes with experience and dedication to the craft.

  6. What if we hate having our picture taken? Truthfully, almost every couple that I work with say this to me. If you're camera-shy, I get it. I am too. Getting to know you from our first meeting through to the wedding morning is an important part of the process. Then once the day gets going you won’t even notice me most of the time. When we do those photos of the two of you together you’ve just got married, your perfect day is happening, you turn to your partner and BAM! Beautiful, natural smiles.

  7. How will you dress on my wedding day? I will be dressed formally like any other wedding guest.

  8. Do you have back-up equipment? YES! I attend every wedding fully prepared. This includes at least 2 cameras, each of which records to 2 memory cards simultaneously.

  9. Do you record video? I shoot still photos and not video. But, if you’d like wedding video too, I can put you in touch with several amazing wedding videographers who will work seamlessly with me on your big day.

Stephen took our wedding photos almost two years ago, and we were over the moon with the results. A genuinely lovely chap, made the whole process relaxed and easy for us, and the photos were stunning. We still can’t decide which ones to have blown up for the wall!

I am fortunate enough to undertake exciting assignments for clients such as UK Parliament and the BBC as a stills photographer but absolutely nothing beats the buzz of a wedding day. I travel the length and breadth of the country photographing weddings and would really love to hear more about what you have planned!
