Julia and Jason dated at school but went on to lead separate lives. That is, at least, until their paths crossed again later in life and they just knew it was meant to be. It really doesn’t get much more romantic than that! It was an absolute delight to photograph their intimate wedding celebration at Hotel Cromwell in Stevenage and a privilege to be there when they finally said “I do”.
Warm sunlight streamed through the windows as Jason made sure everything was perfect for their ceremony and welcomed guests into the decorous Bourchier Suite. Meanwhile, Julia gracefully descended the main staircase with her father and daughters. She looked stunning in an elegant column fit gown with lace detail. With everything ready to go, there was just enough time for me to sneak back to the top of the aisle before the ceremony began.
Jason and Julia’s daughters took to the aisle first, closely followed by our bride and her father. It was a wonderful moment when Julia and Jason’s eyes met across the room. Clearly this was a day that they had both waited a long time for. The ceremony that followed was a treat to photograph. Bathed in the warm winter sunshine that shone brightly through the windows, Julia and Jason finally said ‘I do’.
As reception drinks were served we moved outside to the gardens to [quickly] take a big photo of all the guests together. It was a sunny but bitterly cold February day. So, with that shot in the can everybody retreated to the warmth of Hotel Comwell’s cozy lounge area where photos continued as the festivities of the day began!
Hotel Cromwell provides a wealth of fab options and backdrops for wedding photography. The compact but perfectly laid out and beautifully kept gardens lend so many picturesque angles. You’d never know that you are just a stones throw away from a busy high street! Inside, elegant features are uniquely complimented by quirky boutique décor. Everywhere here looks good on camera and there are tons of opportunities for creative portraits. This is an absolute favorite venue for wedding photography! As the wedding party enjoyed drinks in the lounge, hotel staff swiftly changed around the Bourchier Suite in preparation for the wedding breakfast. Bride Julia had chosen to dress the tables with classic white roses, variegated leaves and gypsophilia that matched her bouquet and the button holes. Brown paper, rustic log slices, hessian and lace details completed the look perfectly. Centre stage was a beautiful ‘naked’ wedding cake with matching flowers and a carved wooden topper.
It’s days like this one where I have to pinch myself and I think about just how lucky I am to be doing this. Joining Julia and Jason on their perfect day was a tremendous privilege.
