Tewin Bury Farm Weddings - Louise and Guy
Louise and Guy’s beautiful Tewin Bury Farm wedding is one that I have been meaning to share on the blog for some time. However, weddings in 2021 went CRAZY! After the uncertainty, fear and disruption the Covid-19 pandemic brought upon weddings in 2020, couples were so ready to get married and celebrate in 2021. As a result wedding suppliers like me were flat out and along for the ride. There is a lot more on that to come here on the blog. But now I am finally at my desk and able to share this beautiful, funny, romantic, and frankly epic pre-Covid wedding.
Louise and Guy both got ready for their day at the Tewin Bury Farm Hotel itself. Keeping things traditional they remained apart in separate rooms at opposite ends of the venue. It was a brilliantly sunny morning and as I moved between the rooms photographing preparations there was a tangible buzz of excitement and anticipation in the air.
Couples sometimes send each other a gift on their wedding morning. A tradition that Louise and Guy followed. Louise had prepared a selection of things for Guy, each with a thoughtful link to their wedding celebration ahead. Special mention has to be made of the socks, adorned with hilarious printed faces of bride and groom, with the message “in case you get cold feet”!
The ceremony took place outside in brilliant sunshine within the garden of the 17th Century Tythe Barn. Adjacent the pretty Mimram River this certainly makes for a picturesque setting in which to say your vows. It was scorching hot in the sunshine but Guy remained super cool as he welcomed guests and awaited the arrival of his bride. Not even breaking a sweat in his super sharp, but undoubtedly insulating, three piece blue tweed suit.
Bride Louise arrived in style, elegantly breezing into the gardens and to the top of the the aisle in a crisp ice white vintage Jaguar. She stunned family and friends alike as she alighted the car looking every bit the beautiful bride. It is safe to say that Guy had a very big smile on his face!
Guy and Louise made their wedding vows under a perfectly blue and sunny sky but we know that the British weather isn’t always that kind. If it had of rained the ceremony would simply have taken place inside the charming and beautifully rustic Tythe Barn. Once the confetti had settled, party celebrations swiftly commenced. The congregation made the most of the beautiful weather with drinks, canapes and traditional games in the gardens. Meanwhile Tewin Bury staff lit BBQs and chilled groom Guy’s favourite beers (in a bespoke homemade ice bath complete with running tap no less) in preparation for the wedding breakfast and speeches.
Guy and Louise made the Tythe Barn their own, dressing tables with bright and colourful summer flowers and ornate gin bottles. Lanterns and fairy lights brightened the space and the room was topped with their a statement feature, bride and groom’s initials boldly lit up in classic lettering. When we met pre-wedding to discuss their photography, Guy and Louise told me that they were hoping for bold, colourful and dramatic images. This absolutely rings true of their wider wedding vision in how they decorated and styled their whole event. Making photos of it was a joy.
With festivities well underway we popped out at opportune moments to make some fun and colourful bride and groom portraits. I much prefer to work this way. Rather than taking a couple away for one big photo session, having them miss a chunk of their wedding day and creating a set of very samey photographs, I break this up into a series of micro photo sessions. This ensures that the bride and groom don’t miss out on any of the wedding day action.
We can instead take some nice 5 minute breaks together capturing a far more varied set of images as light changes throughout the day. This approach works particularly well at Tewin Bury Farm since there are lots of great spots to take epic portraits all within a stones throw of the barns.
